Baseball Kids Offer Unique Sports Swag at Roast

The Pasadena Eagles U9 team is offering up some interesting gear for sports fans at their bull and oyster roast this Friday.

August in Myrtle Beach might not be everyone's idea of a good time, but the Pasadena Eagles U9 baseball team can’t wait to get there. This year the team will be heading down to compete in a Ripken tournament at the very height of summer. Getting there will take work.

The next few months will be spent working on two activities – training and fundraising. The training has already begun. The fundraising begins in earnest this Friday evening. The young men and their families will be hosting a Bull & Oyster Roast at the Stony Creek Democratic Club catered by Seaside Restaurant. It includes an all you can eat buffet and draft beer.

Like their baseball, the team takes their fundraising seriously. In conjunction with the Bull & Oyster Roast the team has worked hard over the past several months to collect donations from local businesses and restaurants but most impressively to collect several items from Maryland's professional sports teams as well.

The door prizes will consist of gift cards and baskets from Pasadena businesses and restaurants, including a basket frmo Under Armour.

The sports paraphernalia will all be auctioned off separately and includes a signed Cal Ripken Jr. jersey, a Raven’s Cap signed by Cody Redding, a signed Raven’s jersey, a signed Puck from the Capitals and signed baseballs from the Nationals and the Orioles.

While the boys are depending on the money raised from this fundraiser and a raffle they will hold later this spring for free hardwood floors and installation, they have also earned some money for their team with their second place finish at another Cal Ripken tournament last summer in Aberdeen, Maryland.
