ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD —Two men from Severna Park and Glen Burnie have been arrested and charged with multiple counts of child pornography possession and promotion/distribution of child pornography. The The Anne Arundel County Police Child Abuse Unit has been conducting investigations into child pornography allegations during the past several months. Their investigation led them to 37-year-old David Patrick Kardian of Severna Park and 24-year-old Tyrin Antario West.
The first investigation was initiated on Jan. 22, 2019, when the police department's child abuse unit investigated a specific account directly associated in uploading child pornographic images to a particular internet site. The information was provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Officers were able to identify an addressed linked to illegal actions and executed a search warrant in the unit block of Old Station Road in Severna Park where they found Kardian. Several of his electronic items were seized and examined by the county's digital forensics lab, which found evidence of child pornography. Kardian was arrested Oct. 7 and charged with 13 counts of possession of child pornography.
On March 13, 2019, Special Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) along with Anne Arundel County Police detectives assigned to the child abuse unit executed a residential search and seizure warrant located in the 8100 block of Harold Court in Glen Burnie. The search warrant was in reference to an ongoing FBI investigation regarding the possession of child pornography. The investigation originated in the state of Florida and as it progressed, investigators were led to the suspect’s address located on Harold Court in Glen Burnie.
Agents and Detectives interviewed West and confiscated numerous digital electronics that were submitted as evidence and later examined by forensic investigators with the FBI. The forensic download of the suspect's electronic devices provided detectives with corroborating evidence as numerous videos and images depicting child pornography were discovered. On Oct. 7, child abuse detectives arrested West on one count of promotion/distribution of child pornography and 11 counts of possession of child pornography.
