Cocaine, Cash Seized From Pasadena Man In Traffic Stop: Police

A Pasadena man faces drug possession charges after Anne Arundel County Police stopped his vehicle in Brooklyn Park.

PASADENA, MD — A Pasadena man faces drug possession charges after Anne Arundel County Police stopped his car in Brooklyn Park for a traffic violation. Detectives stopped an Acura TSX about 2:30 p.m. on April 3 because the driver — Michael Rodell Matthews Jr., 32, of the 8100 block of Hog Neck Road in Pasadena — was reportedly not wearing a safety belt.

During the stop, a narcotics canine signaled to police that a controlled dangerous substance inside the vehicle, according to a news release from the police department. A search of the car led officers to find:

  • Bag of suspected crack cocaine, 29 grams
  • Bag of suspected powder cocaine, 13. 9 grams
  • Digital scale and multiple cell phones
  • $2,914 in cash

Matthews was arrested and charged with CDS: Possession with intent to distribute narcotics, CDS: Possession not marijuana and CDS: Possession of drug paraphernalia.
