Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Its mission is to create opportunities that allow individuals to enjoy life, explore nature, and restore their health and well-being. Celebrate America's 250th birthday with a vibrant weekend of waterfront activities including a Veterans' Maker's Market, live music from the School of Rock, and boating fun on the Potomac. The annual fireworks display organized by the Glen Burnie Improvement Association will get underway at Sawmill Creek Park on July 3, 2026, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Parking will be available at Monsignor Slade Catholic School, with designated overflow parking at the Light Rail Station on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard.
Eventgoers are strongly urged against parking at the Cromwell Shopping Center. A drop-off area will be opened at the Pascal Senior Center along Sawmill Creek Park.
