Fatal Crashes Increase Police Presence On Anne Arundel Roads

Police are stepping up their traffic enforcement after a string of serious crashes in Anne Arundel County. Here's where officers will be.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — County police led a "high intensity" traffic enforcement operation last Friday morning in response to several serious and fatal crashes. The detail focused on Maryland Route 10, also known as the Arundel Expressway.

Officers checked for speed, moving and equipment violations. Police said they stopped 15 cars, leading to:

  • Five tickets
  • Nine warnings
  • One safety equipment repair order

The Anne Arundel County Police Department also noted that it gave 10 commercial vehicle tickets and placed one commercial vehicle out of service.

Police explained that they will continue to enforce aggressive and distracted driving with periodic missions. These operations will include allied departments, officers on motorcycles and undercover cars.

Officers asked anybody who sees reckless or careless drivers to call 911 or dial (410) 222-8610 when it isn't an emergency.
