Fireworks Demonstration To Educate Anne Arundel Residents

Thursday at 9 a.m., fire officials will show how to safely use legal fireworks and how to identify illegal fireworks.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Since the coronavirus pandemic has canceled many community Independence Day events, fire and safety officials are worried that Anne Arundel County residents may attempt to shoot off illegal fireworks themselves and end up injured or worse.

Anne Arundel County and Annapolis officials routinely recommend people "leave fireworks to the professionals." So on Thursday, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department and the Annapolis Fire Department are teaming up to put on a demonstration using legal and illegal fireworks and highlight how to identify the latter, as well as how to safely use legal fireworks.

The fireworks safety demonstration will be held at 9 a.m. at the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Training Academy, 415 Maxwell Frye Rd. People's temperatures will be taken and masks must be worn. Social distancing practices also will be followed.
