A hot tub caught fire outside a Pasadena home, causing $90,000 in damage to the house, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said.

PASADENA, MD — A Monday evening hot tub fire caused $90,000 in damage to a Pasadena home, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said. Firefighters say the accidental fire started around 6 p.m. when an electrical panel on the hot tub burst into flames.

Two people were inside the Chelsea Beach home when the fire started. They told officials that they heard a pop when the wiring blew, prompting their call to 911. Flames spread from the hot tub to the home, damaging the kitchen, back porch and enclosed sunroom.

The 43 reporting firefighters controlled the blaze in 25 minutes. The fire, which was on the 600 block of Riverside Drive, did not injure anybody. The home had functioning smoke detectors that sounded.
