Kids Invited To Catch Fish At Pasadena Derby June 29

The Pasadena Sportfishing Group's kids fishing derby will be Saturday morning June 29 at Fort Smallwood Park.

PASADENA — Grab the fishing poles and head to Fort Smallwood Park in Pasadena Saturday, June 29, for the Pasadena Sportfishing Group’s kids fishing derby. The special event will take place 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. and is open to children ages four to 13.

Adults are not allowed to fish, but are encouraged to help their children. Free entry into the park will be allowed between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m. Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ rules and regulations must be followed and kids do not need a fishing license.

Free worms will be provided by Fishbones Bait and Tackle or pint-sized anglers can bring their own bait. All fish must be caught on a hook and line (no treble hooks are allowed) and there is no more than one line per fisherman allowed. All undersized rockfish must be released. Fish must be measured from the tip of nose to end of tail.

Three winners will be selected for the largest fish in each of the two age categories of four to eight and nine to 13. There also will be door prizes available to participants. If the weather is uncooperative, the event will be canceled, according to Pasadena Sportfishing Group.
