Longtime Hospital Volunteer Retires

Bill Tayman Volunteered for UM BWMC's Blood Drives for 15 Years

Thank you “Mr. Bill”. After 15 years, Bill Tayman is hanging up his hat as a Red Cross blood drive volunteer at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Mr. Bill, an Air Force veteran for 22 years, was recruited by another volunteer who also happened to be an Air Force veteran during a UM BWMC blood drive and told him he should volunteer. Among Mr. Bill’s responsibilities were registration, setting up and provide snacks to donors. The Glen Burnie resident’s last day of volunteering was Friday, July 22. Many UM BWMC staff members who saw him at each blood drive stopped by to wish him well. Mr. Bill is “retiring” to spend time with his wife and family, including his children and grandchildren who live out of state.
