Man Ejected From Vehicle, Seriously Hurt In I-97 Crash: Police

A driver was seriously injured after he was thrown from his car during a crash on Interstate 97 Friday morning.

MARYLAND — A man was seriously injured after he was ejected from his car during a crash on Interstate 97 Friday morning.

The single-vehicle crash happened shortly before 9 a.m. on northbound I-97 between the Benfield Boulevard and Brightview Drive exits, the Capital Gazette reported.

Anne Arundel County officials said the man's Chevrolet Silverado left the roadway before smashing into a tree. The driver, who was thrown from his pickup truck, was taken to Shock Trauma with serious injuries. The extent of the victim's injuries is not yet known.

The crash closed two right lanes on northbound I-97 past exit 10, according to Maryland State Highway officials.
