Man Sentenced After Child Porn Found In Storage Locker
A Glen Burnie man who sexually abused children to produce child pornography has been sentenced to decades in prison, prosecutors say.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Child pornography found in a storage locker in Anne Arundel County led to decades in prison for a Glen Burnie man called a predator by prosecutors, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for Maryland. Glenn D. Ranger, 56, is accused of sexually abusing a boy and a girl, and secretly recording the abuse to produce child pornography.
Ranger was sentenced March 20 to 40 years in federal prison, followed by 40 years of supervised release, for two counts of production of child pornography in connection with his sexual abuse of a young boy. At the sentencing hearing, prosecutors also presented evidence that Ranger sexually abused a young girl in the 1990s, beginning when the girl was about 5 years old. Judge Richard D. Bennett found that Ranger sexually abused the girl and took that into consideration in imposing the sentence.
Bennett ordered that upon his release from prison, Ranger must register as a sex offender in the places where he lives and works.

“Glenn Ranger is a predator and our communities are safer because he will now serve 40 years in federal prison,” said U.S. Attorney Robert K. Hur in a news release. “This is an especially egregious case because it involves such young children and the impact of Ranger’s crimes on the victims will continue for the rest of their lives. We are very grateful to the person who turned the child pornography over to authorities, so that Ranger could be brought to justice.”
According to his guilty plea, beginning in at least 2004, Ranger coerced a 7-year-0ld boy to engage in sexually explicit conduct in order to produce videos and images of the acts. Authorities say the boy was unaware that Ranger was recording the abuse.

In July 2014, Ranger leased a storage unit in Pasadena, but failed to pay the rent for the unit. After the contents of the unit were purchased at auction by an Easton resident, the buyer turned computers, VHS tapes, photographs and binders containing printed and organized images of child pornography erotica all stored by Ranger over to police. Framed photographs from the storage unit included five images of child pornography, including images documenting Ranger’s abuse of the boy.
Digital devices were found to contain over 200 images of child pornography and more than 10,000 child exploitive images. Two of the VHS tapes contained videos of Ranger sexually abusing the boy on three separate occasions, and also show Ranger taking sexually explicit photographs of the child.
Ranger was arrested on April 4, 2018. His mobile phone showed he had visited the social media profile of the abused boy, and had made over 46,000 searches using terms such as “nude teen boys,” “nude teenager girl,” “nude teenager boy,” “pure nudist,” and “familys nude.”
Ranger has been detained since his arrest.
