Pasadena Man Wins $50K In MD Lottery, Plans To Pay Off Debt
A Pasadena man won $50,000 in the Maryland Lottery. The prize will help the grocery store employee pay off his debt before retirement.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Two lottery players won or claimed a combined $60,000 last week in Anne Arundel County.
Pasadena Grocer Will Pay Off Debt
The county's top prize of $50,000 came in Pasadena. Ronald Robbins, 67, recently bought five of the new $5 Ca$h Series scratch-off games while picking up some items from a convenience store after an overnight shift.
Like many players, Robbins scratched off the barcode first to immediately scan the instant ticket and see if he won. Robbins scanned the tickets on his Maryland Lottery mobile application, and one of the games showed that he scored the scratcher's top prize.

“I wasn’t fazed by it at first, because sometimes there’s a fluke in the system,” Robbins said in a Wednesday press release. “But, all of the other tickets said ‘Not a winner’ and when I went back to the first one, it still said the same winning message.”
Robbins then scratched off the entire ticket and saw that one of his numbers matched the winning number. The Pasadena man later made an appointment with lottery officials to collect his prize.

The father and grandfather was the first player to hit the jackpot on the Ca$h Series scratch-off. The game still has seven top prizes left along with 13 $5,000 prizes, 24 $1,000 prizes and more than 994,000 others ranging from $5 to $500.
Robbins plans to use his winnings to pay off his debt before eventually retiring from Giant Food.
The grocery store employee bought his ticket on July 2 at EZ Quick Food Market, located in Pasadena at 231 Mountain Road. The convenience store will get a $500 bonus for selling the $50,000 winning top-prize scratcher.
Another Resident Wins Big
The second-largest win of $10,000 followed in Linthicum. The participant was playing the $250,000 Gold Rush scratch-off at the BWI Chevron. That gas station is situated at 500 Progress Drive. This winner already collected their check.
Across Maryland
Around the state, 32 tickets worth at least $10,000 were sold or redeemed in the week ending July 10. The Maryland Lottery paid more than $28.5 million in prizes over those seven days.
Four players tied for the state's top prize of $62,576. All four participants were playing Racetrax, an animated horse racing simulation game, on Saturday. The tickets were sold in Baltimore, Germantown, Landover and Oxon Hill.
