Update: Authorities have identified a man who was hit by an Anne Arundel County Police car in Pasadena; he remains hospitalized.

PASADENA, MD — Authorities on Wednesday identified a man who was hit by an Anne Arundel County Police car in Pasadena; he remains hospitalized in stable condition with serious injuries. An Anne Arundel County Police officer hit Kenneth Scott White, 40, of the 8200 block Beach Road in Clearwater Beach with his patrol vehicle Sunday night, critically injuring the victim. The accident happened just before 7 p.m. on Ft. Smallwood Road near Elizabeths Landing Way in Pasadena.
A northbound driver reported just missing White apparently trying to cross the road right before he saw the southbound police car strike the 40-year-old man. White was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with critical injuries, where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday.
Officer Joseph Beavers, a five-year veteran of the department, was the driver involved. Police say he was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with minor injuries.

The primary cause of the crash was White’s failure to yield to vehicular traffic when crossing the roadway outside of a crosswalk or intersection, police say. Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be contributing factors, authorities said.
