ANNE ARUNDEL, MD — A school bus encountered a snowy complication early Monday after sliding off the road and getting stuck in the snow in Anne Arundel County.

Marc Limansky, spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Police Department, confirmed to Patch that the incident was recorded just before 10 a.m. in Galesville, at the intersection of Muddy Creek and Leonard R Wilson roads.

No kids were aboard the school bus at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

The previous week saw the school system close its doors from Monday to Wednesday and opt for remote learning Thursday and Friday.

Mark Bedell, the superintendent of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools, detailed in a late Monday video post that nearly a dozen school buses “got stuck in some form or fashion,” but that the cases would not force the county to change its plans for a two-hour delay on Tuesday.

“We will have some buses that may not run tomorrow depending on our ability to make sure that those routes are safe,” Bedell said. “The plan is to make sure that our schools are open tomorrow and we will continue to operate on a two-hour delay.”

“There is no replacement for in-person instruction so we will continue to operate with nothing but safety at the forefront,” he said.

Patch has reached out to AACPS for further details regarding the bus complications.
