Officers had initially responded to reports of an assault at 3:30 a.m. near Ritchie Highway and Jumpers Hole Road.

At the scene, officers were informed by two women that they had been followed by a white Toyota sedan whose occupants pointed a firearm and attempted to run them off the road.

The Toyota was ultimately used to ram into the car driven by the women near the intersection of Ritchie Highway and Jumpers Hole Road.

Police said that while the woman driving the car was able to get away on foot, the passenger was pulled from the car by the teens and "assaulted multiple times" before her purse was taken.

Authorities were able to apprehend one of the teenagers after a police pursuit saw the driver of the Toyota lose control and crash the vehicle in the area of westbound Route 100, at the exit for Mountain Road.

The second teenager, however, was taken into custody after police tapped the services of a drone operator and a K-9.

Further investigation revealed the Toyota had been stolen. The firearm detailed by the women was found inside the car.
