Hazmat Situation Near Halethorpe: 1 Hospitalized, Officials Say
Some homes in the Baltimore Highlands were evacuated Tuesday night, Baltimore County fire officials say.

BALTIMORE HIGHLANDS, MD — A residential area near Halethorpe was evacuated Tuesday night due to a chemical odor, officials said. One person was hospitalized, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department.
Crews were dispatched to the 4400 block of Fenor Road for a report of a chemical odor on both sides of the street at 5:32 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Area homes were evacuated as a precaution.
According to Fox 45, a gas inside the homes and storm drains resulted in the evacuation of almost two dozen residences.

After 7 p.m., officials said that firefighters were flushing the sewer with a "copious amount of water."
One resident was taken for medical treatment of injuries that authorities said were not believed to be life-threatening.

By 10:15 p.m., authorities said that crews were clearing the scene.
