100th Murder In Baltimore Was Teen: Report

The second teen in a week was killed in Baltimore, according to police.

BALTIMORE, MD — Baltimore has marked a grim milestone. The city reportedly reached its 100th homicide on May 8.

A 16-year-old boy was found shot in the 3600 block of West Mulberry Street at 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, according to police. He was reportedly on a basketball court at the Mary E. Rodman Recreation Center.

Officers said they were called to the area behind that address, where they found the teen shot in the upper body.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, police reported.

According to WJZ, the boy was found with a gun in his pocket and drugs on him, and he was known to law enforcement.

The boy was the second teen killed in less than a week, after 17-year-old Ray Antwone Glasgow III was fatally shot Saturday.

In 2017, the city reached 100 homicides on April 24; and in 2015 and 2016, the homicide count hit 100 in late May, according to The Baltimore Sun.
