Some Baltimore Schools Close Early Due To Heat, President Visit

Several Baltimore City Public Schools will have an early dismissal Thursday, some for heat and one because of road closures.

BALTIMORE, MD — Schools in Baltimore City that do not have air conditioning will be let out early on Thursday, Sept. 12, according to Baltimore City Public Schools. One additional school will be closing early because of road closures surrounding the visit of President Donald Trump to Baltimore, officials said.

The schools that are not air-conditioned in Baltimore City will dismiss three hours early Thursday, according to the school system, which cited high temperatures in the forecast.

Temperatures expected to hit 97 degrees Thursday in Baltimore, according to the National Weather Service.

In addition to schools closing because of the heat, authorities said one school would dismiss at 12:10 p.m. Thursday because of road closures associated with Trump's visit to Baltimore. The Crossroads School will dismiss at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, officials reported. The school is at 802 Caroline Street.
