Officer Hit By Carjacked SUV, 2 Teens In Custody: Baltimore Police
Two officers were injured, and two suspects in a carjacked SUV filled with stolen property were arrested, police said.

BALTIMORE, MD — Two officers were injured Tuesday morning when their unmarked vehicle was hit by an SUV that had been carjacked near the Belair-Edison neighborhood on Monday, officials said.
Property believed to be linked to several crimes was found inside the vehicle, according to Baltimore Police Chief of Media Relations T.J. Smith, who said that five incidents in the general area had taken place in the last 24 hours: two burglaries and three robberies.
All were being investigated as related — "and we believe the suspects we have in custody were responsible..." Smith said.

A 16 and 19-year-old were apprehended after the officers were hit, with two additional suspects connected to the robbery and burglary cases possibly at large, Smith said.
A replica gun and property from burglaries and robberies reported in the last day were found inside the Saturn SUV, which was taken after a man was assaulted and carjacked on Memorial Day, according to Smith. He described the stolen items as "heavy electronics."

Because of the crimes reported in the neighborhood, police had deployed extra resources in the area, Smith said.
One officer was getting out of an unmarked vehicle when he was hit by the Saturn, according to Smith, who said he sustained an ankle injury. The other officer, who was inside the vehicle, had minor injuries and did not require medical transport, he added.
The incident happened before 11 a.m. when an officer on patrol in a marked car was in the midst of a traffic stop on another vehicle when the Saturn that had been carjacked took off, Smith said. The officers knew the SUV had been stolen because it was broadcast over the radio, he said.
There was a brief foot pursuit by the uninjured officer to get one suspect in custody, while another officer in the area took a second suspect into custody.
"This may amount to adult charges on the 16-year-old," Smith said. He added that people needed to control their children, as juveniles have been committing violent acts like carjackings in the city.
The notice of an officer being injured in this case comes days after three ATF agents were allegedly approached by armed robbers in west Baltimore.
