A Baltimore police officer sang the National Anthem at Mission BBQ on Sept. 11 in Canton.

BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore police officer delivered a touching tribute Tuesday in Canton. He was asked to sing the national anthem outside Mission BBQ.

Daily the anthem is sung at noon at the patriotic barbecue joint, but Tuesday was a solemn occasion since it marked 17 years since Sept. 11, 2001.

Officer Nigel Rose stood in the bed of a truck outside the restaurant in Canton Crossing, with a crowd around him as he sang the anthem that was inspired by the flag at nearby Fort McHenry.
