Baltimore Ravens Extend Coach Harbaugh's Contract

Head coach John Harbaugh says he's 'very excited' and 'humbled' by his new contract with the Ravens.

BALTIMORE — Head coach John Harbaugh extended his contract with the Baltimore Ravens through 2022. Harbaugh and the team inked the deal Thursday afternoon, according to a statement from the Ravens.

“I’m very excited with this contract, the opportunity to continue our work here, and I’m humbled by it,” said Harbaugh, who is the coach with the most wins in franchise history, with a record of 104-72.

"We're working hard to make the 2019 Ravens the best we can be," Harbaugh said in a statement. "We have an excellent team foundation, and we have a great organization with smart, hard-working people."

The Ravens have made the playoffs seven times under his leadership, including this past season, when the team was named AFC North champions.

“I am thankful for the support from the Ravens, especially Steve Bisciotti," he said.

The extension was not a surprise. Before the playoffs, the Ravens announced in a December statement that the team would be extending his contract. The Ravens ultimately fell to the Los Angeles Chargers, 23-17, in a nail-biter wild card game.

Harbaugh is the fourth longest tenured coach in the NFL, after Bill Belichick, who has led the New England Patriots for 19 seasons; Sean Payton, who has coached the New Orleans Saints for 12 seasons; and Mike Tomlin, who has been head coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers for 12 seasons.

Harbaugh will address the media at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, with a live stream of the broadcast available on the Ravens Facebook page, app and website.

Another press conference with General Manager and Executive Vice President Eric DeCosta is set for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30.
