Baltimore To See Military Flyover: July 4 Schedule

Baltimore is one of the Great Cities of the American Revolution, and will get a military flyover on July 4. Here's when to see the flights.

BALTIMORE, MD — Organizers of the Salute to America on July 4 said a military flyover will pass over Fort McHenry about 5:30 p.m. Friday. The Pentagon said Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and other East Coast cities will get military flyovers on July 4 as part of a salute to the Great Cities of the American Revolution.

The flyovers will begin in Boston and then travel to New York City, Philadelphia and Baltimore before joining other Department of Defense and heritage aircraft in the Salute to America in Washington, D.C.

The aircraft are scheduled to pass over Fort McHenry about. 5:30 p.m., approaching from the northeast at 1,000 feet above the ground, the Capital reports. A Department of Defense press release said five waves of airplanes will be led by the Air Force Thunderbirds, followed by B-1, B-2 and B-52 bombers, F-15 and F-22 fighters and Marine Corps F-35 fighters.

From there, the flights will head to the National Mall in Washington, D.C., between 6:45 and 8 p.m.

More than 10,000 fireworks will be launched from the Inlet Bridget at the south end of West Potomac Park, extending to the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. The show will take place from 9:07 to 9:44 p.m.

Donations from the United War Veteran's Council Foundation are supporting the flyovers.

A flyover is also planned for a celebration President Donald Trump has planned for the Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota.

In all, some 1,700 service members will take part in Independence Day observances.
