BGF Gang Member Charged in Sextuple Shooting on Garrison Boulevard: Police
The suspected gunman faces more than 20 charges, including two counts of first-degree murder.

BALTIMORE, MD — Authorities have charged an alleged gang member in connection with the sextuple shooting on Garrison Boulevard that occurred Nov. 30, police announced Monday.
Damon Alexander, 27, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, four counts of attempted first and second-degree murder, six counts of first and second-degree assault, five counts of reckless endangerment, having a handgun on his person, using a regulated firearm to commit at felony and discharging a firearm in city limits.
The warrant apprehension team found Alexander sleeping on a relative's couch Monday morning in the 2800 block of Westwood Avenue, according to Baltimore Police Chief of Media Relations TJ Smith, after tips from the community helped officials identify him as the gunman in last month's deadly shooting.

Authorities said they found six people shot at approximately 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, on Duvall Avenue at Garrison Boulevard, where a group was standing outside near a convenience store when a lone gunman came around the corner and fired.
Four people were hospitalized, and two men were pronounced deceased, police reported. Davon Dozier, 29, and Troy Smothers, 23, were identified as the deceased.

"We believe that four of the people shot were intended targets," Smith said. A 49- and 51-year-old victim were not thought to have been intentionally involved, according to officials.
The two who died were among the targeted, according to Smith, who said Monday that all four of the injured have been released from the hospital.
"There was a little kid that was close by as well, and we're fortunate that we're not talking about a toddler that was shot because [the gunman] clearly didn't care," Smith said.
According to police, Alexander is a member of the Black Guerilla Family, or BGF, a criminal enterprise that promotes drugs and violence and which includes contingents inside prison.
At the time of the sextuple shooting, Alexander was on probation for felony theft and having a stolen regulated firearm, according to Smith, who said that a motive had been determined in the shootings: "It was an act of retaliatory violence," he said, related to an earlier incident in the same neighborhood.
Officials said that BGF is a "consistent problem for the city."
After three men were found dead with gunshot wounds in the 900 block of Bennett Place on Sunday, Dec. 4, Baltimore Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said their tentative identifications were as BGF gang affiliates.
The deceased were Antonio Davis, 23, of the 1100 block of Stricker Street; Howard Banks, 45, of the 1300 block of Washington Boulevard; and Thomas Carter, 42, of the 2100 block of Barclay Street, police said.
Indictments related to BGF in recent years have included corrections officers accused of conspiring with the gang members in jails.

As they announced the charges in the Garrison Boulevard case, authorities asked for help locating the suspects wanted in another case, a murder at 12:50 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, on Fayette at Eutaw Street. Derrick Charles Jackson Jr., a former public enemy number one, and Vincent Jamar Barefoot, are both wanted for murder, police said.
“Text tips have been instrumental” in helping homicide detectives, Smith said. He encouraged people to use any of these methods to share information with police about Jackson and Barefoot. If the suspects are spotted, Smith advised people to call 911 since the suspects are alleged murderers and unsafe:
