Ahmed Warshanna is a Baltimore-based guitarist, composer, and bandleader. Across all of his endeavors, Ahmed takes an impressionistic approach to modern jazz, creating immersive performances that blend tradition with exploration. His unique sense of storytelling is exemplified in his work with Ishta!, his genre-blending sextet that harnesses the spontaneous energy of its regularly rotating ensemble. Ahmed also founded and curates The Backwater Sessions, a weekly music gathering that has become another vehicle for community collaboration. Having shared the stage with artists like Brandon Woody, Clarence Ward III, and Elijah Jamal Balbed, Ahmed presents his own offerings that contribute to the evolving language of jazz.
