Flood Warning Issued For Baltimore, Anne Arundel

BREAKING: The National Weather Service warns those in two counties and Baltimore City to be especially cautious at night due to flooding.

BALTIMORE, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for parts of Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties and Baltimore City. The warning is in effect until 1:45 a.m. Saturday.

Areas under the flood warning are southeastern Baltimore County, north central Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City.

By 8 p.m., weather officials said that 1 to 2 inches of rain had already fallen, and about 1 to 2 inches more were possible; radar showed thunderstorms that could produce heavy rain that may cause flooding.

"Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding," the National Weather Service said in a statement.

During a flood warning, flooding is imminent or occurring. Drivers should turn around if they come across flooded roads, and pedestrians should not attempt to walk through flood waters.

Specifically, the National Weather Service mentioned these locations in the flood warning: Baltimore, Pikesville, Middle River, North Point State Park, Sparrows Point, Back River, Millers Island, Dundalk, Towson, Catonsville, Essex, Woodlawn, Parkville, Carney, Lochearn, Pasadena, Arbutus, Rosedale, Rossville and Brooklyn Park.

A flash flood watch remains in effect until midnight.

Farther north, in Harford County, there have been multiple swift water rescues, and a flash flood warning was issued.

Those who encounter waters of unknown depth should turn around; don't drown.
