Get a free ride from Lyft to The BIG Theater in Station North
Lyft gives free rides to Baltimore Improv Group in Station North Arts & Entertainment District to see a free improv comedy show

BALTIMORE, MD – The non-profit Baltimore Improv Group (BIG) brings free rides to nearby Baltimore audiences in partnership with Lyft.
To receive a free Lyft code, anyone can fill out a form to receive a code for two uses worth $10 each way. This gives a free roundtrip ticket to The BIG Theater in Station North. The BIG Theater is a former bowling alley and later became home to The Everyman Theater. Baltimore Improv Group took over the venue in 2017.
“Local nonprofits work hard year-round to improve lives in their communities — often without the funding larger organizations have,” Lyft shared in their blog. “To recognize the contributions of local nonprofits and ease transportation barriers they face, we award grants in the form of Lyft ride credit to a variety of local nonprofits each quarter."

The BIG Theater began experimenting with free shows in May 2018 leading to explosive growth in attendance and improv classes. In the past year, the total audience has included 27,000 people seeing a variety of free shows performed by over 100 regular local performers. This includes the over 2,250 people who saw an improv show at thetheater over Artscape weekend.
Dennis DiMaggio, professional development coach, trainer and change management facilitator, regularly attends comedy shows at BIG and became involved by taking improv classes and volunteering.

"The Baltimore Improv Group provides art for the community, education to students and positively impacts the business community. Everything they invest in is better for it," said DiMaggio.
Lyft created its community program to help give back to the communities by helping with transportation issues affecting communities within our city.
The Station North Arts and Entertainment District became an area and official arts and entertainment district in 2002. Art-focused organizations run theaters and galleries with former warehouses converted into apartments. The district spans the three historic neighborhoods of Charles North, Greenmount West, and Barclay.
Baltimore Improv Group (BIG) serves as the city’s leading non-profit improv comedy venue entertaining with over 800 shows each year.
"The Baltimore Improv Group provides amazing education, fantastic shows and are great corporate partners," said DiMaggio. "All of that is secondary to the fun, supportive and open community they create."
