MD Coronavirus Positivity Rate Up Slightly, Hospitalizations Down

The number of COVID patients who are hospitalized has decreased for the 15th day in a row in Maryland, state health officials report.

MARYLAND โ€” With more venues poised to welcome back customers Friday as part of Maryland's stage two reopening, fewer hospital and ICU patients are being treated for the coronavirus, state health officials reported. Thursday marks the 15th consecutive day the number of COVID-positive patients in Maryland hospitals has gone down.

In the past two weeks alone, the number of coronavirus patients in Maryland hospitals has dropped by more than 430.

Also in the past two weeks, 443 people have died from the virus, based on state health data.

As of Thursday, 902 people are hospitalized with the virus, including 358 on the intensive care unit, the Maryland Department of Health reports.

The state's positivity rate has seen a slight increase for the second day in a row, from 7.19 to 7.25 percent.
