Mergenthaler High School receives rare linotype machine (wbaltv.com) — Students and alumni at Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School in northeast Baltimore just welcomed a rare, 3,000‑pound linotype machine that honors the school's namesake and printing legacy. With help from the Baltimore Museum of Industry and Johns Hopkins University, the machine was transported from Virginia and installed on campus, where it will serve as a hands‑on historical inspiration for current Mervo students.
   

2. Baltimore's Mount Vernon sees packages stolen within minutes (wbaltv.com) — Residents in Baltimore's Mount Vernon neighborhood say packages are being stolen within minutes to an hour of delivery, sometimes even from inside apartment buildings. Frustrated homeowners and renters are changing how they receive deliveries, while officials remind neighbors that suspected mail theft tied to USPS can be reported to the Postal Inspection Service online or by phone.
   

3. Brochin: Conway's City Hall ouster reeks of politics, not performance (foxbaltimore.com) — A shake-up at Baltimore City Hall has City Councilman Mark Conway stripped of his Public Safety Committee chairmanship, sparking debate over whether he's being punished for backing the inspector general's transparency push. Former state Sen. Jim Brochin likens the move to political retaliation he once faced, while Council President Zeke Cohen insists Conway's legislative record is the real issue, leaving residents to weigh competing explanations.
   

4. Elev8 Baltimore Seeks the Next Generation of Youth Development Leaders (bmorenews.com) — College students in and around Baltimore can apply now for paid Elev8 Baltimore internships supporting afterschool programs in Baltimore City Public Schools, earning a $5,000 stipend over 100 service days. Interns will gain hands-on youth development experience while helping local children and families, but applications must be submitted by October 1, 2026.
   

5. Metal Ninja Studios Has Big Plans for Baltimore Comic-Con 2026 (graphicpolicy.com) — Baltimore fans can start planning now for Baltimore Comic-Con at the Inner Harbor Convention Center from September 25–27, where Metal Ninja Studios is expanding its presence as Artist Alley sponsor. Attendees will find creator panels, a Concept to Comic giveaway, new indie debuts, and exclusive Baltimore Comic-Con variants, plus chances to meet up-and-coming writers and artists.
