Record-Low Temperature Tied In Maryland Wednesday

While Maryland tied its record-low temperature for Nov. 13, Virginia set a record, the National Weather Service reported.

BALTIMORE, MD — There were record temperatures across the region Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The agency documented two records.

Baltimore tied a record low that was more than 100 years old. There was a reading of 22 degrees Fahrenheit at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, which was also the record low for Baltimore on Nov. 13, 1911, the National Weather Service reported.

At Dulles International Airport, officials said a record low temperature of 19 degrees Fahrenheit was set. The old record was 21 degrees, which officials said was from Nov. 13, 1963.

"A very cold morning across the forecast area," the National Weather Service reported around 10:45 a.m. See the forecast at the end of the article.

Due to the cold snap that hit Tuesday, Montgomery County issued a hypothermia alert through 4 p.m. Wednesday, and Anne Arundel County opened warming centers.

Whiteford in Harford County and Upper Marlboro in Prince George's County saw trace amounts Tuesday morning, while Allegany County reported 3 inches of snow in Frostburg Tuesday night, based on preliminary data submitted to the National Weather Service. Ridge in St. Mary's County reported 0.3 inch of accumulation before 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Free State saw flakes from the Eastern Shore to western Maryland.

Forecast Through The Week

A slight uptick in temperature is forecast Friday, then more cold this weekend.

Here's the forecast from the National Weather Service for the Baltimore-Washington metro area:

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 37 and low around 18 degrees. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46 and low around 34. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 52 and low around 30. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41 and a low around 27.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 44 and low around 37.

Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50.
