Parts Of MD Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch
Severe thunderstorm warnings have ended in much of Maryland Wednesday, Aug. 11, weather officials advise.

MARYLAND โ After issuing a severe thunderstorm watch for 15 jurisdictions across Maryland, the National Weather Service scaled back its watch area Wednesday night.
The severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m. for parts of northeastern Maryland, weather officials reported before 7 p.m.
Cecil County remains under the severe thunderstorm watch.

Storms with damaging winds and large hail may be scattered with isolated cases of flash flooding through early Wednesday night, according to authorities.
These areas are under the watch: Chesapeake Bay north of Pooles Island to Sandy Point to North Beach to Drum Point to Smith Point to Cobb Island; Chester River to Queenstown; Eastern Bay; Choptank River to Cambridge and the Little Choptank River; Patuxent River to Broomes Island; Tangier Sound; and the inland waters surrounding Bloodsworth Island.

A small craft advisory is in effect until 10 p.m.

EXPIRED: Parts of Harford and Cecil counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning after radar detected a storm with 60 mph wind gusts near Aberdeen.
The severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service, which issued the alert.
Around 6:15 p.m., radar indicated a severe thunderstorm was over Perryman in Harford County and was moving east at 20 mph, officials said.
These areas may be impacted, according to the warning: Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Riverside, Perryman, Charlestown, Hollywood Beach, Edgewood, Perryville, Carsins, Harford Furnace, Abingdon and Belcamp.
During a severe thunderstorm warning period, winds may cause trees and large branches to fall, injuring people outside as well as damaging homes and vehicles.
Roads could become blocked by fallen trees, and power outages are possible.
People should go inside to the lowest floor and an interior room to stay safe.
A special marine warning is in effect until 6:30 p.m. Storms were on a line from Havre de Grace to Aberdeen Proving Ground to Sevenfoot Knoll and were moving east at 20 knots, according to the warning, which called for wind gusts over 50 knots and large hail.
Boaters should move to safe harbor until the storm has passed since they may be capsized suddenly and/or their boats may be damaged, according to the warning.
EXPIRED: A severe thunderstorm warning for Baltimore, Harford, Anne Arundel and Howard counties and Baltimore City expired at 6:15 p.m.
After 5:30 p.m., the National Weather Service issued the warning when officials said that severe thunderstorms were on a line from Fallston to the Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport.
Radar indicated the storms had 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail and were moving southeast at 15 mph.
These areas may be impacted, according to the warning: Baltimore, Severn, Middle River, Elkridge, Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Riviera Beach, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Baltimore-Washington Airport, Fort Smallwood State Park, Gibson Island, Sillery Bay, Bodkin Point, Millers Island, North Point State Park, Magothy River, Sparrows Point, Dobbins Island, Pinehurst and Back River.
A special marine warning is in effect until 6:30 p.m. after severe thunderstorms were located on a line from Havre de Grace to Middle River to Fort Smallwood State Park around 5:30 p.m. The storm was moving east at 20 knots and had wind gusts above 50 knots and large hail, according to the radar.
Boaters should move to safe harbor until the storm has passed since they may be capsized suddenly and/or their boats may be damaged, according to the warning.
These areas may be impacted, according to the special marine warning: Fort Smallwood State Park, Turkey Point, North Point State Park, Hart Miller Island, Chester River, Gibson Island, Bodkin Point, Tolchester Beach, Worton Point, Pooles Island, Spesutie Island, Love Point, Gunpowder River, Sandy Point State Park, Baltimore Light, Severn River, Northeast River, Sevenfoot Knoll, Kent Narrows Bridge and Pinehurst.
