Baltimore-based creative agency TBC is thrilled to announce it is the recipient of six American Advertising Federation (AAF) of Baltimore’s ADDYⓇ awards for its work with The Baltimore Banner and Visit Baltimore. Allan Charles, one of TBC’s co-founders, was also named the 2022 Lifetime Achievement award recipient for his outstanding career success and contributions to the advertising community.

“There are few greater feelings for a leader than seeing your talented team recognized for amazing work,” said Nichole Baccala Ward, president of TBC. “We’re in the business of making brands famous, and memorable creative is a cornerstone of that. We’re proud to deliver award-winning campaigns for our clients.”

The American Advertising Awards is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting nearly 35,000 entries every year in local AAF competitions. The local Baltimore tier is the first of a three-tier, national competition to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.

“First and foremost, we aim to develop work that results in performance solutions for our clients—and sometimes our peers recognize it for great creativity and sometimes they don’t,” said Bill Ward, EVP and managing director at TBC. “The fact is, finding the intersection of both is hard, because this business is hard. Cheers to all that ‘get it’ and keep bringing your craft every day.”

Allan Charles started his career in advertising and TV production when he was just 15 years old and co-founded TBC in 1974. He was honored by Baltimore’s advertising community as the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.

“Many thanks to AAFB for recognizing me for this prestigious award,” said Charles. “I’d like to thank the many clients who have given me the opportunity to do the great work that TBC is known for and also extend a huge shoutout to all the TBC team members who have collaborated closely with me over the years to create such a memorable and successful body of work. Advertising is a huge component of American ‘pop’ culture and continues to be a major driver of the economy. I’m proud to be a part of this terrific creative industry.”

TBC’s Gold ADDY Award for The Baltimore Banner’s logo design will now move on to compete in the next tier of awards at the District level. AAF Baltimore is part of AAF District 2, which includes New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and DC, and some of the toughest competition in the country.
