Teen Killed In Baltimore Shopping Center Shooting Identified: Police

The 16-year-old victim died after two suspects opened fire on him and four others near Edmonson Westside High School on Wednesday.

BALTIMORE, MD — Police have identified the teenager killed in a shooting near Edmonson Westside High School on Wednesday.

Baltimore police said 16-year-old Deanta Dorsey was killed when two suspects opened fire on a group of Edmonson Westside students gathered outside the Edmondson Village Shopping Center. Four others — two 17-year-old males and two 18-year-old males — were also injured in the shooting, police said.

The current conditions of the four injured teens are unknown, police said.

The shooting happened just before 11:20 a.m. According to police, five teenage boys were on lunch break from school and had gathered outside Popeye's restaurant when the shooters opened fire.

Both suspects fled behind the building after the shooting, police said.

A nearby officer and school police responded and provided aid to the victims, all of whom were taken to nearby hospitals with various levels of injuries, police said. Dorsey, who was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma, died at the hospital, police said.

Authorities have not released a description of the suspects.

Classes at Edmonson Westside High School were canceled Thursday. Officials said counseling is available for students and staff.
