Teen Driver Killed, 4 Injured In 3-Vehicle Crash On I-95 North

Maryland State Police have identified a teenage driver who died in a chain reaction crash on Interstate 95 north in Cecil County.

NORTH EAST, MD — An 18-year-old driver was killed, and four people were injured, around 6:45 p.m. Saturday in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 north, Maryland State Police said Sunday.

Police said a crash had traffic stopped in the left two lanes of I-95 north when a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic rear-ended a 2016 Toyota Highlander, causing the Highlander to rear-end a 2022 Toyota Rav4.

Police identified the driver of the Chevrolet as Gage Myers, 18, of New Jersey. Myers was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

"Gage was a hardworking kind soul that was carving his future. He brought stability to his family through kind words, a quick wit and a handsome smile. The world has lost a shining star," read a GoFundMe started for Myers' memorial.

In less than 24 hours, the fundraiser had gathered more than $23,000 of its $30,000 goal as of late Monday morning.

A 19-year-old female passenger in the Chevrolet was injured in the crash and was taken by helicopter to Christiana Medical Center in Delaware, police said.

The female driver and a juvenile male passenger in the Highlander were also injured and were taken by helicopter to Johns Hopkins Hospital for treatment, police said.

Additionally, a girl who was a passenger was taken to Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware for treatment.

Details of the first crash are unknown. Police said I-95 North was closed nearly four hours due to the crash.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.
