3 Charged In CMW Bathroom Arson: Fire Marshal
Investigators said three teens were charged with a pair of felonies in connection with the bathroom fires at C. Milton Wright High School.

BEL AIR, MD — Three people have been charged in connection with an arson at C. Milton Wright, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Two were charged as teens, and one was charged as an adult.
The charges stemmed from fires set intentionally in bathrooms at C. Milton Wright High School in Bel Air.
A custodian discovered the fires when he reported to work in the 1300 block of North Fountain Green Road on Tuesday, March 26.

The fire marshal ruled the cause arson and said there was $1,000 in damage.
As a result, these individuals were charged with second-degree arson and first-degree malicious burning, the fire marshal reported on Tuesday, April 9:

- Ryan Daniel Hruz, 18, of Gulfstream Court in Forest Hill; charged on Tuesday, April 9
- 17-year-old from Bel Air; charged on Monday, April 8
- 17-year-old from Forest Hill; charged on Friday, April 5
The 17-year-old boys, who were not identified because they were charged as juveniles, were released to the custody of their parents, while Hruz was served with a criminal summons, the fire marshal reported.
Hruz is slated to appear in Harford County District Court June 12.
Both charges are felonies. Second-degree arson carries a 20-year sentence and $30,000 fine, while malicious burning carries a five-year sentence and $5,000 fine.
Authorities announced the charges two weeks after the arson occurred.
"The Office of the State Fire Marshal would like to thank the public for their assistance in bringing this incident to a quick conclusion," the fire marshal said in a statement on April 9.
