4 Heat Emergencies in Harford County on Wednesday, Officials Say
Three of those who fell ill from the heat were at the Harford County Farm Fair, according to emergency personnel.

BEL AIR, MD — Emergency personnel handled four heat-related calls for service on Wednesday, including three at the Harford County Farm Fair, according to Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association spokeswoman Jenn Chenworth.
Three older adults were evaluated for illness due to the heat at the farm fair in the 700 block of North Tollgate Road, Chenworth said. One was taken to a local hospital with a condition that was not believed to be life-threatening, she reported.
The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company and the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company responded to the incidents at the farm fair.

Elsewhere in the county, the Abingdon Fire Company took an 18-year-old with heat exposure to a local facility after a canoeing trip at the Anita C. Leight Estuary Center in the 700 block of Otter Point Road in Abingdon, Chenworth reported.
Temperatures were in the 90s on the heat index in Harford County on Wednesday.

The heat-related issues on Wednesday came two days after Harford first responders said they had handled five heat-related emergencies on Monday and three others over the weekend.

The National Weather Service reported that on Monday, temperatures at BWI hit 100 degrees for the first time since 2012.
Citizens are advised to stay hydrated and wear loose-fitting clothing if they must be outside in the heat.
