Abingdon Walgreens Held Up for Second Time in Two Weeks: Sheriff
Authorities say the two armed robberies, which involved stealing prescription medications from the pharmacy, may be related.
The Walgreens in Abingdon was robbed at gunpoint Saturday morning, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
It was the second armed robbery in as many weeks at the drugstore, and the sheriff’s office reports that investigators believe the two armed robberies are likely related.
At 4:21 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, detectives responded to the Walgreens in the 3000 block of Emmorton Road, where two men went into the store and one approached the pharmacy counter, showed he had a handgun and demanded prescriptions, according to the sheriff’s office. An employee complied, and the two men left, the sheriff’s office reported.

Maryland State Police authorities are investigating a similar armed robbery at the same Walgreens on July 20. In that incident, police said there was a single suspect who demanded prescriptions from the pharmacy, his face covered by a bandanna.
According to Kahler, Maryland State Police handles a percentage of calls for service on state roads, which is why the July 20 robbery—at the pharmacy off MD 924/Emmorton Road—was dispatched to that agency.
