Bank Robbery Suspect IDed As Bel Air Man

The armed robber stole between $1,000 and $10,000 from BB&T in Edgewood Monday morning, according to officials.

BEL AIR, MD — A Bel Air man has been charged in a bank robbery in Edgewood that took place Monday morning, police reported Tuesday.

Tyree C. Smith, 18, of the 900 block of Hillswood Road, has been charged with armed robbery; first and second-degree assault; theft from $1,000 to under $10,000; and robbery.

Authorities allege Smith robbed BB&T at in the 1000 block of Gateway Road in Edgewood at approximately 10:36 a.m.

Officials said the suspect vehicle was found near Hillswood Road. The road was closed until 3 p.m. for police investigation.

Smith was was being held on $35,000 bail at the Harford County Detention Center, authorities reported Tuesday.
