Bel Air Tops 2016 'Best Cupcakes' List for Maryland

BEL AIR, MD — The goods from Flavor Cupcakery & Bake Shop in Bel Air have garnered national attention already — winning over judges on the Food Network's Cupcake Wars in 2011 — and they remain topnotch in 2016, according to The Daily Meal, a culinary resource which has ranked them the best cupcakes in Maryland.

In the site's annual list of the best cupcakes in every state, Flavor Cupcakery & Bake Shop earned the 2016 title. The Daily Meal used variety, presentation, creativity and online engagement in judging the nation's cupcakeries.

Flavor's "no-frills, all-flavor attitude" and offerings like mint Oreo and Boston cream were mentioned in the newly released rankings as standout features. The ever-changing cupcake of the day, which includes a surprise flavor in addition to rotating seasonal ones (such as pumpkin s'mores), also got kudos from The Daily Meal, whose list was featured on MSN.

This is not the first time Flavor has been in the spotlight. Since opening in 2010 on Tollgate Road, Flavor quickly became a star. The business received $10,000 for its win on a December 2011 episode of "Cupcake Wars" on the Food Network and expanded in 2012, opening a second location in Cockeysville.

Flavor Cupcakery & Bake Shop is located at 118 North Tollgate Road in Bel Air.
