DUI Checkpoint In Harford County Planned for Cinco de Mayo
The Harford County Sheriff's Office announced an upcoming sobriety checkpoint.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — When planning for Cinco de Mayo, be sure to plan a sober ride home. Officers in Harford County will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint that evening.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office will hold a DUI checkpoint to keep the roads clear of drunk drivers.
Authorities said the checkpoint would take place during the evening hours of May 5, which falls on a Saturday.

Drinkers are encouraged to download the Safer Ride app, which is sponsored by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and pulls up taxi services in the area.

By law, the sheriff's office has to announce the checkpoint to curb impaired driving.
Following a Supreme Court case regarding the 4th and 14th Amendments to the Constitution, the court ruled that citizens' rights to security against unlawful search and seizure are not violated if the checkpoint is publicized in advance.
