Edgewood Townhouse Fire Update: Children, Firefighter Released from Hospital
Family jumped from the windows of burning home in Harford County, where a neighbor and nearly 70 firefighters assisted.

Five people hospitalized following a townhouse fire in Edgewood Friday morning have been released, the Office of the State Fire Marshal reported.
The blaze in the 1800 block of Eloise Lane began around 2:45 a.m. in the basement laundry room, where it quickly spread upstairs through the utility chases at the center of the townhouse, according to the report.
A woman and her four children were inside the burning home at the time, according to the fire marshal.

A neighbor who heard screaming went outside and encouraged the family to jump, according to WBAL. He assisted in catching three of the children who leaped from the front window, the fire marshal reported.
One of the children jumped from a rear window, according to the report.

All four children, who range in ages from 4 to 12, were taken with non-life-threatening injuries to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Center and have since been released, according to the fire marshal.
Their 34-year-old mother is expected to be released soon from Johns Hopkins Bayview, where she is being treated for mild smoke inhalation and injuries from jumping out the window, the fire marshal reported.
Almost 70 firefighters responded, bringing the blaze under control within 40 minutes, the fire marshal reported.
Fire companies that assisted included Joppa-Magnolia, Kingsville, White Marsh, Bel Air, Fallston and APG, according to the report. The Harford County hazmat team assisted with firefighter rehabilitation as temperatures were below freezing.
Maryland State Police, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office and the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association assisted with patient care at the scene, the fire marshal reported.
One firefighter was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center with a minor ankle injury and has since been released, according to the report.
The fire marshal said there was an estimated $150,000 in damage.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, the report said.
