Macphail Road Blaze Caused $150K In Damage
A Bel Air family noticed light smoke in their home before fire broke out in the basement, the fire marshal reported.

BEL AIR, MD — A weekend house fire in Bel Air resulted in $150,000 in damage, according to authorities. The cause of the blaze on Macphail Road remains under investigation, the fire marshal reported Monday.
The family evacuated their home and called 911 at 9:04 p.m. after finding fire in the basement of their residence in the 700 block of West Macphail Road, officials said.
Earlier, they had noticed light smoke in the two-story house and tried to ventilate it.

Within 20 minutes of their arrival, about 40 firefighters had brought the one-alarm blaze under control.
The fire started in the basement, according to the fire marshal. The cause has not yet been determined.

There was $100,000 in structural damage, officials said; about $50,000 worth of items inside were lost too.
