Funeral For Firefighter Set For Saturday In Joppa
The funeral for firefighter Nathan Flynn will be in Joppa on Saturday, July 28. Drivers should anticipate delays.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Law enforcement officials have advised drivers to anticipate more traffic than usual Saturday on MD 152/Mountain Road. There will be heavy traffic and possible delays as people pay their respects to Nathan Flynn, the firefighter killed in a seven-alarm blaze this week, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
A memorial service to remember Flynn will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, at Mountain Christian Church, 1824 Mountain Road, Joppa, MD 21085.
Heavy traffic is expected in the area from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 28.

There will be full firefighter honors., and the funeral will be live-streamed, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
A 13-year veteran of the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, Flynn was responding to the call for a reported lightning strike in Clarksville when he fell through the floor inside a residence that became engulfed in flames. It took firefighters about 10 hours to control the inferno.

Flynn, 34, lived in Havre de Grace.
He is survived by his wife and children. There is a donation page set up for the family through GoFundMe.
A viewing for Flynn was held from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at Mountain Christian Church, 1824 Mountain Road, Joppa, MD 21085. Authorities advised people to anticipate delays between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday, July 27.

The Flynn family, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman, Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services Chief John S. Butler and Howard County fire personnel will be in attendance at the funeral.
Fire departments are encouraged to attend and travel in groups, and should not bring their apparatus, according to a statement from the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
There will be no fire department procession or interment, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, at the request of the family.
