Weather Decision from Harford County Public Schools for Thursday, Feb. 9

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Public schools in Harford County will open two hours late on Thursday because of the weather, Harford County Public Schools officials reported Thursday morning.

Authorities reevaluated the situation and decided to maintain the two-hour delay, officials announced after 7 a.m.

Morning prekindergarten is canceled, officials said. Other than that, students and employees should report two hours late.

Harford County is under a winter weather advisory until 9 a.m. for snow, with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation expected.

Other Schedule Changes for Thursday, Feb. 9

• Harford Community College opening at 11 a.m.
• Harford Day School opening two hours late
• Harford Friends School opening two hours late
• Havre de Grace City Hall opening on time, liberal leave in effect

Around the region, Carroll and Cecil County public schools will be closed on Thursday. Baltimore County Public Schools will open on a two-hour delay.

Here is the statement from Harford County Public Schools, issued after 7:15 a.m.: "Due to the weather conditions, Harford County Public Schools will open TWO HOURS LATE today, Thursday, February 9, 2017, for students and employees. No morning Pre-K. We will re-evaluate. RE-EVALUATION HAS OCCURRED; MAINTAINING THE TWO HOUR DELAY."

School officials had initially released this information before 5 a.m.: "Due to the weather conditions, Harford County Public Schools will open TWO HOURS LATE today, Thursday, February 9, 2017 for students and employees. No morning Pre-K. We will re-evaluate."
