Man Dies After Bel Air Drowning: Report

A man reportedly died Sunday after he was pulled from the bottom of a private pool in Bel Air.

BEL AIR, MD — A 27-year-old man died after he was found at the bottom of a private pool Sunday evening in Bel Air, authorities say. The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company took him to a local hospital, officials reported.

Emergency personnel were called to the 1700 block of Redfield Road when the man was discovered at the bottom of a pool after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21.

People in the area pulled the man out and started CPR until medics arrived, according to Jenn Chenworth, spokeswoman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

When emergency officials arrived, he was still in cardiac arrest, she reported. The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company took the man to a local hospital in grave condition, Chenworth said.

Joshua Edward Thomas, 27, of Jarrettsville, later died at the hospital, The Aegis reported.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

News of the man injured in the pool in Bel Air came less than two months after an Edgewood boy died following a drowning in Joppa. Zephaniah Muchele, 11, was unresponsive and not breathing when he was pulled from a private pool on Neptune Drive on May 27, which was Memorial Day. He died May 31.
