New Mural At Bel Air High School Represents Unity

More than 100 students and a professional muralist created a piece of artwork within Bel Air High School.

BEL AIR, MD — A professional muralist collaborated with more than 100 students at Bel Air High recently to create a special mural for the school. The finished product has been installed in a hallway.

A grant from the Maryland State Arts Council funded the project, which was conducted in partnership with the Bel Air Art Department, according to Harford County Public Schools.

Artist in residence Michael Kirby, a professional muralist from Baltimore whose art has been featured around the world, worked with students on the piece.

The mural was intended to capture the sense of unity that students and staff feel at Bel Air High, according to a statement from Harford County Public Schools.

Officials said this week that the mural is a "true testament to the talent of the art students at Bel Air High School and how they value the unique interests among their peers."
