Pedestrian Killed By Train In Joppa, Officials Report

A deadly train crash occurred off Joppa Farm Road, fire officials said.

JOPPA, MD - One person died in a crash involving a train Friday morning in Joppa, according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

At 11:35 a.m., the fire company reported that a train fatally struck someone on the CSX tracks in the area of Joppa Farm Road.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, officials said. The person's identity was not provided.

The deadly train crash in Joppa was the latest in a series of fatal pedestrian-train collisions in the region.

Last month, a man was killed by a MARC train in Elkridge and another pedestrian died trespassing on the tracks in southwest Baltimore. Two CSX workers were also fatally struck by an Amtrak train outside Washington, D.C., a little more than two weeks ago.
