Police ID Man Killed In Elkridge Train Crash

BREAKING: Authorities have confirmed the identity of the 34-year-old man who died Friday when he was hit by a MARC train.

ELKRIDGE, MD — An Elkridge man was hit by a MARC train near Levering Avenue Friday morning, according to the Howard County Police Department.

Xin L. Zhuang, 34, of Elkridge, had been walking near the train tracks around 6:25 a.m. when a train came around a bend and fatally struck him, police said. Based on the preliminary investigation, authorities reported that it was not feasible that the conductor could have had time to stop the train from hitting Zhuang.

Authorities initially did not identify the victim because he had no wallet or identification on him.

When Zhuang was reported missing by his family Friday night, authorities determined that he was the one who had been struck.

Police said it was unknown why Zhuang was in the 5500 block of Levering Avenue, walking by himself near the railroad.

Nobody on the train was injured, according to officials.
