Police: Fatal Crash Near Forest Hill Was Weather-Related

The collision was the only deadly one of dozens of crashes across the area Sunday morning, police said.

One person died in a crash near Forest Hill Sunday morning, according to Maryland State Police.

Emergency medical personnel and police were at the scene of a fatal collision on MD Route 23, the Harford County Office of Emergency Management reported at 9:38 a.m. Sunday.

Preliminary information indicated the collision was weather-related, according to a statement from Maryland State Police.

All lanes on Route 23 had been closed at High Point Road for crash investigation since approximately 8:45 a.m., the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team reported.

Since 8 a.m. Sunday, troopers had been responding to a ”series of crashes” across Harford, Cecil, Baltimore and Howard counties, the statement said; however, the crash in Harford County was the only fatal one, police said.

Harford County was under a freezing rain advisory until 11 a.m. Sunday.

“The freezing rain and icy conditions will improve as the day goes on,” Harford County Emergency Management reported. “...slow down, be prepared for slippery roads and use caution.”
