Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Harford County
A storm with 60 mph wind and hail prompted the severe thunderstorm warning for Harford County Saturday, the National Weather Service said.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Harford and Baltimore counties.
The warning, issued before 8 p.m., remains in effect until 8:45 p.m. Saturday.
A severe storm with 60 mph winds and penny-sized hail prompted the alert, officials said.

These areas may be impacted, officials say: Cockeysville, Bel Air South, Bel Air North, Reisterstown, Mays Chapel, Timonium, Fallston, Hampstead, Manchester, Kingsville, Pleasant Hills, Jarrettsville, Gamber, Lutherville-Timonium,
Edgewood, Joppatowne, Pylesville, Glen Arm, Upperco and Cardiff.
“Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms,” the National Weather Service reported. “Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.”

During the severe thunderstorm warning period, winds may cause trees and large branches to fall, injuring people outside as well as damaging homes and vehicles. Roads could become blocked by fallen trees, and power outages are possible. People should go inside to the lowest floor and an interior room to stay safe.
A flash flood watch and severe thunderstorm watch are in effect until 11 p.m. for parts of Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.
EXPIRED: A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 4:30 p.m. Saturday for parts of Harford County. The National Weather Service, which issued the warning, also included Baltimore City and Baltimore County.
Officials issued the warning after radar detected a severe thunderstorm over Back River at 3:55 p.m. that was moving southeast at 10 mph, the National Weather Service reported. The storm had 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, officials said.

These areas may be impacted, according to the severe thunderstorm warning: Baltimore, Middle River, North Point State Park, Sparrows Point, Back River, Millers Island, Dundalk, Essex, Rosedale, Rossville, White Marsh, Bowleys Quarters, Edgemere, Nottingham, Fort Howard, Chase, Eastpoint, Martin State Airport and Turners Station.
Southern Harford County, southeastern Baltimore County and east-central Baltimore City are included in the warning, officials said.
A flash flood watch and severe thunderstorm watch are in effect until 11 p.m. for parts of Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.
Harford County remains under a heat advisory until 8 p.m.
