Six Displaced by House Fire in Edgewood: Fire Marshal

The fire was ruled accidental.

A house fire in Edgewood displaced six adults Tuesday evening, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Unattended cooking caused the blaze in the 100 block of Palmetto Court, where firefighters responded at 10:02 p.m., the fire marshal reported.

Within half an hour, 60 firefighters from Joppa Magnolia, Bel Air, APG and Abingdon had brought the fire under control, the report said.

There was $70,000 in structural damage to the split-level home, according to the fire marshal, who estimated that $10,000 worth of items inside were lost as well.

A family of six—two parents and their four adult children—were displaced by the fire and were being assisted by the Red Cross, according to the report.

The fire marshal said the blaze was ruled accidental, due to unattended cooking.
